Headmaster's Blog - Doing good and doing well

Playing around with the language as any former English teacher would, I do believe that it is not enough to do well, you have to do good too! More than ever there is a world of need at our doorstep as well as in far-off places and we can aspire to make a difference in both parts. It is continually reassuring to see how many people do give of their time and resources to help someone somewhere in some way. Here, we like to think of ourselves as a caring community and caring by its very essence involves giving, so it's always a treat to hear of new examples of kindness, large and small.

Topic: Duxbury Chapel Presentation

This past Saturday, the boys of Duxbury performed during the Chapel Service as the House celebrates its tenth anniversary this October. The theme of this presentation was “Unity”. The service consisted of hymns, speeches, musical offerings and even a reading from “Lord of the Rings”. The boys had loads of fun with the performance, and were able to truly show the importance and advantages of being a team. As the year goes on, Duxbury continues to bond tighter as a House.

Shawnigan Alumni Year-end Salute

Shake a hand, raise a glass and share good wishes for the season and for 2010 with other SLOB's from your past!

As always, it is the first Thursday in December, which is the 3rd this year.

This is not a spouse/partner-included event. Not that we have anything against our better halves, but the idea is to have at least one time in the year where it is just us getting together.
