Rowing National Finals

 Shawnigan recently sent 33 rowers to the 63rd annual National Championships in St. Catharines, Ontario. Despite the cold weather (and two thunderstorms!), this trip is nevertheless now a bright spot in the memory of all involved. It was marked with many new and amusing memories, lots of positive team building, and numerous outstanding performances. After a few days of training on the racecourse, each crew then proceeded to race through heats, semi-finals and finals from Friday to Sunday—for some athletes, this meant racing up to six races in three days! Our fantastic athletes took home five medals from the eight finals in which we raced on Sunday. These excellent results placed us in an impressive 6th place out of 130 schools from across Canada and the Eastern United States!
