2008-2009 School Year Begins
The start of another school year has commenced and is off to an energetic and smooth start. The 'buzz' created by new and returning students has filled the halls with excitement and enthusiasm. This year promises to be as busy as ever with 444 students gracing our halls and beautiful grounds. Students enrolled at SLS this year hail from many countries giving the School an International flavour. Our student body represents these countries, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Uganda, USA and Vietnam.
September sees a variety of extra-curricular activities which enable the students to get to know each other better and build the all-important house spirit - from House BBQs to the Track Meet it has been a great start to the year. The traditional grade 8 expedition took place in the first week and these students were joined on a camping trip to the Horne Lake Caves for the first time by a grade nine expedition as many new students join the School for grade nine. The grade tens have also had a one day hike in the Cowichan Valley to build some class spirit and connections.
