Chef James McClellan
Shawnigan is very fortunate to have Chef James McClellan at the helm of our kitchen. James left the Fireside Grill in Victoria and joined the Shawnigan family in 2006. Recently, he cooked a gourmet meal as part of a fund-raiser featuring guest speaker Romeo D'allaire in Victoria. James received accolades from the guests in the form of a standing ovation. Be it a wholesome lunch or dinner for over 500 people, three times daily or a Board of Governors dinner, James and his excellent support staff keep the meals varied and within budget. No easy task! SLOB's will likely remember their dining hall days where no one went hungry but certainly didn't enjoy diverse menu items such as Curry night (naan bread, butter chicken, aloo gobi, basmati rice, cucumber raita, salad bar & mangoes) or chicken caesar wraps accompanied by yam fries! Of course traditional menu items such as shepherds pie, fish, hearty soups, spaghetti and meatballs and pork chops are still served on occasion.
