Groves' Boys Re-united
In July 2008, Peter Ericson '85 contacted the Alumni office at Shawnigan to enlist our help in locating a former Groves' classmate. Peter had planned a motorcycle trip to Mexico and was very keen on looking up his old friend Salvador Molina '85 who lives in Celaya, Mexico. After some correspondence, we were able to help these old boys re-connect and eventually they met up in Salvador's home town. Peter sent the following photos and account of their very happy reunion.
The Mexican-Canadian Connection Ride
Shawnigan friendships are truly life long.... A friendship that started nearly 23 years ago, now felt as though time had stood still. In the dark of night and covered in road grime from the day's 800 km ride, I rolled into Celaya, Mexico on my motorcycle to meet my old Shawnigan buddy, Salvador! I was met (in the McDonald's parking lot - felt a little like the Black Swan days...) with the big smile I remembered from years ago along with a greeting that only those that know Salvador could imagine!!! The Molina family invited me into their beautiful home and treated me as family. This was one of those amazing moments that life is all about! We reminisced about the old Shawnigan days, caught up on the past 23 years, and added a few Mexican adventures to our lives to talk about next time.... -Peter Ericson
