Shawnigan Year-End Salute
Important information for Thursday's Year-End Salute:
The Pub had already organized a private party for their reps and VIPs for the Dec 1st evening from 6 to 8 pm. Luckily, we have been included.
If you arrive before 5 pm, you should be able to walk straight in. If you arrive between 5 and 6, the pub will be closed and being decorated for the party and so the rather large doormen may not let you in, so you may have to go to the hotel lobby just to the east (left) and they will let you in the back door.
If you arrive after 6, they will be checking you against their list. Tell them that you are with the SLOBS party and they will let the first 25 in.If they won't let you in, call me on my cell 604-218-1891 and I will get our contact to help. Once through the door, we will be on the left, near the stage/band.
See you there!
2011 SLS YEAR-END SALUTE
Thursday, December 1st
Doolin's Irish Pub (654 Nelson Street)
3:00 - ?
Please join classmates, friends and graduates of all eras as we join together in celebration of the impending Holiday Season at the Annual Shawnigan Lake School Year-End Salute!
Originally conceived of by the (allegedly) now-venerable Class of '72, this afternoon/evening of fun and debauchery has grown to include alums of all vintages. Held at Doolin's Irish Pub in Downtown Vancouver, it's an excellent opportunity to raise a glass, reconnect with friends old and new, and share in a few laughs and more than a few memories!
Last year's event brought out the usual revelers, a host of first timers and the ever popular ‘mystery guest’. Event founder Doug Anderson joined with close to 30 alums and friends representing 11 grad classes from ‘67 to ‘02 who enjoyed an evening of catching up, retelling old stories - and in some cases rewriting them! A handful of Point Grey rugby players from the 70’s also attended, apparently wanting to be reminded of their inability to defeat the SLS 1st XV.
This year's salute will be held on Thursday, December 1st. Revellers are welcome to join in the fun any time after noon, though it should be noted that the event won't really kick into gear until sometime after 3 pm. The School will reserve a block of rooms at the Comfort Inn right next door - perfect for anyone worried about being overwhelmed in the spirit of the season!
No RSVP's are required for this fun and worthwhile event, but we look forward to seeing everyone out in their holiday best, whether for an hour or the evening!
Cheers,
Roland Borsato '72
