Sr. Boys VIBC Tournament
The Senior Boys Basketball team defeated Highlands 97-70 in their season opener at the VIBC tournament in Victoria on Thursday afternoon. With a very small bench, all eight players had to contribute significant minutes to the win. Luis O. scored 14 points and led the way
with 16 rebounds while Pat E. poured in a game-high 36 points. Adrien H., Wei-Yu C. and Howard Y. scored 15, 13 and 11 points respectively.
On Friday, the team moved into the quarter-finals against Wellington. They were within 5 points at the end of the third quarter, but were defeated 67-91 at the end of regulation.
Shawnigan split their remaining two games on Saturday. In the win over Windsor 87-70, Luis scored 15 points and was 90% from the foul line. Wei contributed 18 points and Pat an additional 30 points. Ethan C. and Will T. scored 9 points each in the 61-78 loss to Seaquam.
Pat E. was selected to the tournament All-Star team with an average of 28 points per game.
The team hosts Brentwood College in their league opener on Tuesday at 5:00pm in the new Shawnigan Sportsplex.
