Shawnigan Girls' XV
The Shawnigan Girls' XV took another big step in their quest for a Provincial Championship by beating 'AAA' number 2 ranked Cowichan High School 24-19. Last week they lost a close game to the number one ranked 'AAA' school Carson Graham 12-8. Yesterday's game featured some outstanding play from our back row, Chloe and the two Rachels. Time after time they stole possession and turned defence into attack. Running well at inside center was Fran who made many penetrating runs, but the highlight of the game was a late break by Terri and her 80-meter footrace to score the winning try. Shawnigan has been dominating their opposition regularly up front and yesterday was no exception. We were much quicker to the breakdown and far more effective in producing good ball. Our backline was moving the ball well and is improving with each game we play. It has been many years since the Shawnigan girls have had a win against Cowichan and I congratulate them on another solid performance.
