Grade 8 and 9 squads play for the first time

It marked a moment to remember.

Many of Shawnigan's junior athletes played their first-ever competitive rugby on Thursday, as the grade 8 and 9 teams visited SMUS.

The grade 9 team came out with a 15-10 victory, while the grade 8 squad fell 25-20.

Grade 8 coach Wes Plater says that his group played exceptionally well in the narrow defeat. "It was a great first game, with lots of exciting tries."

The grade 8s returned to action with a trip to Vancouver's Collingwood School on Friday.
