French exchange begins

Students arrive from Angers

Another group of eager French students is enjoying a taste of Shawnigan's Canadian culture.

30 students arrived on Wednesday, the latest contingent to take part in Shawnigan's exchange program with Lycee Sacre Coeur in Angers, France.

Over the next two weeks, the students will participate in classes, hike up Mt. Baldy, canoe on Shawnigan Lake and learn about local indigenous culture.

They will also visit the Royal B.C. Museum and take a two-day excursion to Tofino.

The students and their three teachers are staying in Shawnigan boarding houses, and joining the rest of the School for evening meals and chapel services.

It is always a pleasure to have the outside world visit Shawnigan," says Graham Linn, Shawnigan's Head of Modern Languages. "They bring a different perspective on life and so add even further to the international ambiance on campus."

Linn hopes to return a Shawnigan group to Angers in March.
