Human Geography trip

A trip to Victoria's Hindu Temple
Shawnigan’s AP Human Geography students enjoyed a cultural experience outside of the classroom Tuesday.

Taking advantage of the week's long block schedule, the class ventured to Victoria, stopping first at Sizzling Tandoor, a popular Indian food restaurant.

With their bellies full, the students proceeded to the Hindu Cultural Centre to meet with Dr. Shukla — optometrist, psychologist and Brahmin Priest.

Dr. Shukla shared with the class an overview of Hinduism's philosophy, scriptures and history.

“Having the opportunity to hear from someone that is actually Hindu gave the students a deeper perspective than their textbook would give them,” says Mr. Galen Loiselle.

Naomi S. adds that the experience "Opened my eyes to how there's different ways people practice their beliefs and religion."
