Pacific Astronomy Summit Blog #1

Shawnigan students represent Canada!
On July 22, three lucky Shawnigan students (and one equally fortunate staff member) embarked on the journey of a lifetime to Hilo, Hawaii. For four packed days, the students will take part in the Pacific Astronomy & Engineering Education Summit. As the only school from Canada invited to attend, they will learn collaboratively with students from the United States, Japan, China and India in an exercise that is as much about friendship as it is about education. They will post daily blogs and photos about their experiences, so make sure you check back often!

Blog #1 - Monday, July 22nd

After a long day of travel from Beijing, Calgary and Victoria the four of all joined together for our last flight to Hilo, Hawaii. Once in Hilo, we met teams from Kyoto, Osaka, Beijing and Aravali (India). After one meal together, we can already say this has been an amazing cultural experience! Tomorrow, we look forward to meeting the Hawaiian participants and starting the seminars and workshops on astronomy, engineering and robotics.
