Academic Colours

First term classroom standouts

14 of Shawnigan's academic stars received prize ties on Tuesday morning, in this year's first presentation of Academic Colours.

In awarding Colours to the Grade 12 standouts, Assistant Head – Academics, Wendy Milne reminded the School precisely what the scholars are nominated for:

"We are celebrating the scholars of the School who strive for excellence, have a passion for their classes, and are not simply working hard for the marks, but for a love of learning. We are celebrating the unselfish student who helps their peers to succeed and takes a leadership role in their classes so their teachers are acutely aware of their absence. We are recognizing the students who are always on top of their work, especially when away. We are celebrating the students who push themselves by taking challenging classes and are able to rise to a level of excellence while also being involved in everything else that the School has to offer.

To be eligible for nomination, you need to be on the Dean’s List and Headmaster’s Honour Roll on a consistent basis, and your performance over a two year period, grade 11 and 12 for seniors, is considered - especially in this first round."
