Fly Fishing on the West Coast
Recently, three members of the fly tying crew had a chance to practice their fly fishing skills on different rivers on the West Coast. Not only did Edouard. R, Jake. E and Kyle B. meet with many chinook, coho and chum salmon, but they also had the incredible luck to view 39 bears and 36 impressive Roosevelt elks at close range. The rivers were unusually low, which made the fish more vulnerable to bear predation and to us!

The salmon were very cooperative and every student caught many fish and lost even more of them. The fish were between 10 to 30 pounds and give birth to many epic battles. The trip has been a great success and, for most of the boys, it was a special occasion to discover the real wilderness of Vancouver Island. Now, it is time for them to reflex on their adventure, dream about monster fish they may have caught if . . .
