Founder's Day 2014

Welcome Back Alumni!
What a weekend! The 2014 edition of Founder's Day really raised the bar in terms of what a Shawnigan reunion can offer. More than 300 alumni and guests were in attendance throughout a day that served as a showcase of everything that makes Shawnigan the school that it is. Chapel was extraordinary, as a memorable alumnae address from Vicki Stronge '94 was complemented by musical offerings from some of our talented performers and some of the best hymn singing in recent memory. After lunch in Marion Hall, the Prefect-led tours whisked alumni to all corners of the campus, allowing them to see the changes that have been undertaken in the years since their graduation. Sports fans had more than their fill of black and gold, with rugby games against St. George's and a touring side from Scotland, student and alumni rowing duels against our old rivals from Brentwood, and the highlight of the afternoon, that saw the Junior Girls Field Hockey team claim the ISA title on our new water-based turf!

Then it was off to the Wilkinson Theatre for "Shawnigan Cabaret", a new feature on the schedule that allowed our Performing Arts program to take the spotlight, and they did not disappoint! With a hop in their collective step, our visitors then returned to the dining hall for an amazing dinner, a few more laughs with current and former faculty, and a return bus trip to parts unknown to continue their celebrations. A special thanks to everyone for their efforts in making our visitors feel so welcome.
