Garry Coldwells visit

A presentation on cyber-security

The Model United Nations and Robotics fine art groups had the pleasure on Wednesday of welcoming Garry Coldwells, a Shawnigan parent, who discussed cyber-security.

Both the global and local perils of our digital interconnectedness were discussed along with several recent examples of cyber-security breaches.  Of particular interest was the recent SIM card database hack that was carried out against Gemalto and would allow spy agencies to monitor cellular communications.  The presentation was followed by a Q&A.

Both the Robotics and Model U.N. clubs would like to thank Mr. Coldwells for taking the time to enlighten us on the evolving nature of the digital wars unfolding in our laptops and around the world today.
