Head of the Charles Regatta - Update

An amazing experience for everyone!
Q and A with Maia D.

Q. What was the teams' overall experience in Boston?
A. The crew's overall experience in Boston was unbelievable. We learned so much!

Q. What experiences did you gain?
A. Everyone definitely learned something from this trip. Experiencing a high level regatta was inspirational and we all proved how capable we are.

Q. How did you do?
A. We (the Sr. Girls) finished 27th out of 85 boats.

Q. How do you feel about your result?
A. It was a great race and we are happy with the result!

Q. Were you prepared enough?
A. We were as prepared as we could be. Of course, having more time for practices together would have been beneficial. We were up against crew's that have been rowing together for a long time, but we trained hard in the short time we had and it worked out well.

Q. Was it what you anticipated?
A. I had absolutely no idea what to expect, so everything was very exciting!

Q. What's next?
A. Training for the spring competitive season starts in a few weeks, so we'll be putting our focus there. We can take more time now to connect within the boat and concentrate on the small details, as the next regatta isn't for months. I can't wait to get on the water and start training again!

Both Shawnigan Crews did very well in their races. The first trip to the Head of the Charles Regatta was a great success! We are all looking forward to welcoming them back late Monday night and Tim Coy will update us on what must have been an incredible experience for all of our athletes.
