PARTY

Learning to party responsibly

Students in Planning 10 took an annual trip to the Cowichan District Hospital on Tuesday, as part of the PARTY Program for youth aged 15 and older.

An acronym for Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth, PARTY aims to provide teenagers with knowledge of trauma, by exposing them to various parts of an accident that they may not have fully considered.

From simulated intoxication (beer-goggles), to police road checks, to situations faced by paramedics and ER personnel, to the rehabilitation of severe injuries, students heard from various stakeholders in trauma treatment and prevention, in hopes that they will be empowered to make good choices when socializing.
