Anti-Bullying Day at Shawnigan

Shawnigan was awash in pink on Wednesday, as students and staff joined institutions across the world for Anti-Bullying Day.

Celebrated on February 25th every year, the initiative encourages people to wear pink as a symbolic gesture of unity with those who are bullied.

Speaking in Chapel on Tuesday, David Robertson spoke about Shawnigan's culture, suggesting that kindness is an integral part of what the School is all about. The Headmaster says he has no time for bullies or bullying, and likes to think the School is quite far down the road towards eliminating bullying.

The tradition of wearing pink to stand up to bullies began in 2007 when a pair of Nova Scotia high schoolers distributed pink shirts throughout their school after a classmate was bullied for wearing one.
