Rugby Returns

1st and 2nd XVs in action

Rugby is back!!!

Two solid performances this week resulted in close wins for our 2nd XV against local rival schools Cowichan Secondary and Francis Kelsey.

The 1st XV started out their 2015 campaign with a resounding 66-12 victory over UVic on Thursday. UVic fielded a big and athletic group made up of first and second year university students. The 'uni' boys tried to outmatch Shawnigan through their physicality, but Shaw was more than ready for those kinds of tactics. Shawnigan defended with great organization and courage, turning the ball over multiple times as defence turned quickly into attacking opportunities.

Many of our young men stood out on defence, but none more so than vice-captain James O. Our attacking flare and ability was highlighted with a beautiful set piece move resulting in a 75 metre try scored by centre Callahan M.

Next up will be our Colt A's, 2nd XV and 1st XV all playing Earl Marriott from White Rock this Tuesday.
