Shawnigan's English Department invited students to celebrate William Shakespeare's 451st birthday with a slice of cake on Thursday.
More than 100 students stopped by, clearly motivated by nothing but the love of the bard himself…
English classes at Shawnigan study many of Shakepeare's plays, including Romeo and Juliet, Othello, Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Department Head Cari Bell says Shakepeare remains relevant today "because he speaks to human desires such as love, loss, revenge, jealousy, hopes and dreams."
