Tristan M. wins BC Junior golf event

Adam V. finishes third

Consistency was key for Tristan M., as the Shawnigan senior claimed another impressive trophy last week.

Playing at his home course of Arbutus Ridge, the Mill-Bay product put together rounds of 70, 71, 70 and 68 (279) to win the BC Junior boys Golf Championship.

Trailing by one stroke heading into the final round, Tristan rattled-off three straight birdies early on Friday to take a lead he wouldn't surrender.

With his victory, Tristan qualifies for the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, August 1-4 in St. John's, Newfoundland. He'll be joined at the Canadian Championship by his friend and golfing partner Adam V., who fired a four-day total of 282 to finish the BC Championship in third place.

Tristan and Adam also played as a team in last week's BC Junior Boys best-ball event, finishing with a four-round total of 21-under par – equal with competitors Keaton Gudz and AJ Ewart, but losing on a tiebreaker countback.

The pair also led Shawnigan's golf team to a third-place finish at the BC High School 'AA' Championship at Capilano Golf and Country Club in June.

Tristan will be returning for his grade 12 year in September, while Adam heads to University in California.
