Strong showcase in Vernon

Shawnigan's midget varsity team headed out on the road this weekend for the first showcase of the season in Vernon, BC.

Led by an incredible effort by Matt K. on Friday morning, Shawnigan paced the weekend with an opening 7-2 victory over OHA.  Later in the day, another 60-minute effort was given by all in a 9-0 win over Coeur d'Alene.

The squad knew that the competition would be greater against SISEC on Saturday. However, led by legendary performances by Ethan H. and Kurtis L., Shawnigan came out on top of a 5-3 scoreline.

Sunday's game came bright and early, with a 6am wakeup call for an 8am puck drop. Shawnigan came out of the gates in a flurry, outshooting Edge 20-3 in the first frame. However, Edge was able to fight back later in the contest, handing Shawnigan their only defeat of the weekend (4-2).

The team is now preparing to host the first CSSHL showcase ever at Shawnigan early in November.
