Students in the Writing 12 class wrenched themselves from bed at 4:30am last Thursday to begin the journey to the 2014 Vancouver International Writers Festival on Granville Island. The trip has become an important fall term pilgrimage. Over two days and five events, the students encounter a wide range of writers and genres – from performance poets to prize-winning novelists and celebrated memoirists. I look forward to seeing the ways in which the trip will influence student work in the weeks and months ahead.
