Shawnigan Lake School will host the 7th Annual Rugby Academy July 3 to July 8, 2016.
This camp provides a unique opportunity for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 17 not only to develop their rugby skills, but also learn more about the underlying values of the sport, such as respect and self-discipline. Whilst the camp will be organized into a Junior (11-14) and a Senior section (15-17), the "As One" philosophy of creating a tight-knit rugby community focussed around an engaging group experience will pervade.
The coaching staff will be led in 2016 by Canadian U18 coach Jim Delaney, and will feature former and current men’s and women’s international players. These players will also live and sleep in the residences, which will allows the camp participants to rub shoulders with international athletes during their ‘down time’ away from the rugby field.

"As a parent, I have to say he came back 2 inches taller and 100% more confident in his abilities. He thoroughly enjoyed his week and thought the housing arrangements and care superb, the coaching contact was phenomenal and the friends he made were great." – Lorraine Royall (Parent)
This was my second year attending SLS Sumer Rugby Academy and it has once again brought back unforgettable memories, friends, and most importantly skills I use everyday both on and off the pitch. Experiencing such a high level of coaching from this camp for the past two years has really brought out my love for rugby, helped me make friends from all over the world, and most importantly helped me grow as a young upcoming player and person. Shawnigan really implements the importance of a rugby players performance both on and off the field, and I truly believe without this guidance of the coaches, mentors, and everyone else who made the camp possible, I wouldn't be the respectable, strong willed, and skillful player I am today. - Tanika Bonneville, age 15
The camp was very fun and helpful for me as an experienced rugby player, it allowed me to practice and become more comfortable with many different positions as well and master those I am already comfortable with. I hope to return in the future to further improve my play. – Tina Senger
I really enjoyed my time at Shawnigan because there was a lot of focus on basic skills as well as positional skills which has given me a better understanding of how to play my position in a game and how to if needed play other positions because I learned the basics and got to test some of those skills in an actual game situation.
