Paul Morris
Paul Morris enjoys the busy life of a Shawnigan teacher. He teaches math and science, coaches squash and ice hockey, and is Assistant House Director of Lonsdale’s House where he and his wife, Alison Dewis (Associate Director of Admissions) are enjoying the community of boys.
Paul began his teaching career here at Shawnigan in the mid 1990s and was here for three years before moving to nearby Lakeside Preparatory Academy where he worked as a House Parent and teacher.
Eventually, Paul and Alison accepted teaching assignments in Saudi Arabia, which they both enjoyed immensely. While in Saudi they worked at two private schools—a prestigious private school for Saudi nationals and at the American International School in Jeddah.
Paul is delighted to be back at Shawnigan where he describes the staff as extremely “talented and collegial.” When asked about changes in the years that he was away, Paul said that they are almost too numerous to name. Not surprising, coming from a science teacher, the Shaw Centre is one of his favourite changes. Among others are the incredible new boarding Houses and the technological advances—especially the intranet used by staff and students, which Paul says is, “second to none.”
