Ralph Fraser
(by Thandi F.)
The impressive music and teaching background of Mr. Ralph Fraser, is not easy to summarize. With over twenty-five years experience, he’s taught everything from Senior Band to French, Geography, PE, Social Studies and English.
Active in the local music scene, Mr. Fraser is a member of the Cowichan Valley Concert Band, the Cowichan Valley Consort-Orchestra (groups which he has introduced numerous students to over the years) and also the Devon Bailey Big Band, which played at Shawnigan’s semi-formal holiday dance.
Born in Toronto, Mr. Fraser was raised in Northern Ontario and eventually made his way to British Columbia. Although he has spent most of his life dedicated to the joys of music, music isn’t Mr. Fraser’s only love. One of his favourite pastimes is hockey, which has led to some fabulous opportunities over the years. He is also a coach of the Shawnigan Hockey Team, which recently defeated friendly rival-school Brentwood.
Every day you can hear him whistling whilst walking the halls of the Main Building. I like to refer to it as, “the infectious joie de vivre of Mr. Fraser.” He’s so energetic, that he’s been nicknamed the “Original Energizer Bunny,” by Mr. Housser. Life imitates Music.
