Top Canadian juniors compete in Ontario

Two Shawnigan students earned strong results at this weekend's Canadian Junior Squash Championships in Toronto.

Two-time Canadian champion Lucia B. dropped only two games in her first four matches before falling to top seed Charlotte Orcutt in a four-game championship final.

15-year-old Lucia was playing her first year in the Under-17 draw after winning the U-15 event last year.

Lucia was joined at the Canadian championship by Grade 11 student Mitchell K., who also represented the School well.

After a first-round bye, Mitchell easily disposed of his first two opponents before dropping his quarter-final matchup. The 16-year-old then won two more matches in the playoff round to earn a 5th place finish in the boys Under-17 event.

Shawnigan grad Ryan Picken also lost in the quarter-finals of the boys U-19 division.
