Girl power

Grade 8’s and 9’s empowerment workshop
Counsellor Janelle Cohos and nutritionist Kaitlin Stephens were on campus last Friday to coach Grade 8 and Grade 9 girls in healthy eating, exercise, self-esteem and self-respect.

The foundation of the “Girl Power” workshop was the exploration of healthy living fundamentals through discussion and games.

The presenters covered a “four-step girl power recipe” designed to help young women navigate the tricky waters of adolescence with wellness topics ranging from nutrition and mindfulness to self-care and responding to peer pressure.

At the end of the session, the girls were encouraged to make the goal of implementing at least one positive lifestyle change each day over the coming month.
