Girls teams compete in Vancouver

Shawnigan's two girls teams are enjoying travel and team building midway through the short soccer season.

The junior and senior squads both ventured to Vancouver last week for the ISA Championship at Southridge School.

The juniors earned a 1-3 record, while improving vastly over the tournament.

The seniors suffered a pair of one-goal defeats on Thursday before earning two impressive wins on Friday. "A high percentage of the girls are buying into the process and attempting all the concepts and ideas that we've put forward," says Shawnigan Head of Soccer Blair Sturrock, stressing his optimism for how the teams have been developing.

The juniors face Gulf Islands and Frances Kelsey this week, while the seniors are building towards the North Island Championship in early May.
