The Outer EDGE

Grade 8s and 9s head to camp
With Shawnigan seniors locked down for final exams, the Schools Grade 8 and 9 classes ventured off campus for the final week of the school year.

This year's Outer EDGE trips featured two different adventures, with the Grade 8s making camp on Salt Spring Island and the Grade 9s split by gender in Tofino.

The Grade 8s enjoyed a week of team-building activities, as they built shelters and rafts, hiked and kayaked, and cooked their own food.

For the Grade 9s, activities included a hike to the famed Canso Bomber crash site and body boarding in Cox Bay. In addition, campers served the community by picking up trash during a hike along Long Beach.

Both groups enjoyed great food and campfires, returning just in time for Friday's final awards ceremony and Closing Day.
