Staff leadership conference

Hosted in partnership with ISABC
Head of English Carmen Boudreau and English teacher Cari Bell represented Shawnigan at a two-day Independent Schools Association of British Columbia (ISABC) leadership conference hosted at the School earlier this week.

The conference, which has been a staple of the ISABC’s educational offerings for the past four years, featured a cohort of 20 middle-management leaders from ISABC schools across the province. This group meets six times per year, each time at a different ISABC school, to engage in thought-provoking discussion and valuable professional development.

In addition to facilitating connections between independent school professionals from across the province, this conference’s concentrated curriculum included topics ranging from models of leadership and professional growth plans to classroom observations and feedback, recruitment and interviewing, public speaking, managing conflict and quality assurance.

Mrs. Bell notes that the conference was action-packed and inspiring and sparked an ongoing learning process whereby each participant will complete a reflective inquiry project based on his/her particular management area under the guidance of an ISABC leadership mentor.
