Chinese New Year in Strathcona

Celebrating cultural diversity

Strathcona House has enjoyed a night of cultural activities in celebration of Chinese New Year.

Strathcona parent Cynthia Qin and her daughter Xinyao, along with Cynthia's dear friend Anny and her daughter Annabella, generously hosted the 64 girls of Strathcona on Sunday evening.

The hosts set up stations with several activities, including Chinese knotting, paper-cutting, couplet painting, and the very popular dumpling cooking.

The girls were keen to try each activity, and in the end, festooned the common room with lucky knots, paintings, and garlands of paper. The dumplings were also delicious, though none remained by the end of the evening.
