On Board

Continuing the conversation
Shawnigan welcomed its Board of Governors to Victoria late last week for the February Board Retreat. The meetings, which took place Thursday through Saturday, brought together prefects, staff, the Senior Leadership Team, and members of the Board of Governors to share and reflect on current work and strategic priorities for the school.

Some Board members, who took up the invitation to visit the campus earlier in the week, connected with Shawnigan’s educational program at ground level, taking part in classes and joining in on some engaging activities. The Board Retreat coincided with the Shawnigan House of Commons, Life Skills Relay, Amazing Race, and Career Day events that took place on campus on Thursday and Friday. Taken together, these events gave Governors another perspective on Shawnigan’s approach to delivering a 'well-rounded education'.

The Board’s weekend agenda took a deep dive into all aspects of school life: from current educational practice and future-proofing directions, to developing financial aid, to discussions with staff and prefects, to alumni engagement and strategic visioning, and to viewing everything we do through the lens of the three Cs: “Conversation, Compassion, and Community.”
