Rugby Jamboree

Growing the game
The grass roots of Canadian rugby are growing strong on the Shawnigan fields.

More than 500 enthusiastic youngsters ran, passed, kicked, and tackled as Cowichan Rugby Football Club hosted the annual Mini Rugby Jamboree on Sunday.

The event, for ages 6-13, aims to introduce boys and girls to the game and develop key skills for those already playing it.

Organized by Cowichan RFC, the jamboree saw students from Rokeby School – a touring team from the UK – helping out as coaches, while members of Shawnigan's 1st XV also contributed as referees.
