Gold Standing for Chamber Choir

Shawnigan shines at West Coast Concert Choir Festival
Shawnigan’s Chamber Choir represented the school brilliantly at the 2019 West Coast Concert Choir Festival held at Brentwood College School last week, earning gold standing for their performance – the highest standing possible at this festival.

This year’s ensemble included seven choir members who, in addition to learning and polishing their choral pieces, were also part of the school musical. “Everyone was really dedicated, we worked hard, and we had a lovely time at the festival,” says Shawnigan Director of Music, Ms. Shannon Tyrrell.

The West Coast Concert Choir Festival, which is an affiliate of MusicFest Canada, is open to exceptional school choirs whose performance meets or exceeds the criteria established by MusicFest Canada. Choirs may advance from this festival and be invited to perform with some of the most outstanding artists and ensembles in North America at the week-long MusicFest Canada National Festival taking place in Ottawa this May.
