Guidance visits

New options for a new batch of students

Shawnigan's Guidance Office is opening conversations with universities from across the globe.

While many Grade 12 students are making their final arrangements for post-secondary life, Grade 10s and 11s are beginning to explore their options.

In the past week, the G.O, has hosted a number of events aimed at connecting students with universities and introducing them to various programs on offer, admission requirements, and campus life.

On Wednesday, the school hosted visits from UK schools including Queens - Bader, Leeds, Essex, and St. Andrews. Thursday saw several European institutions on campus, including Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (Switzerland), Universita Bocconi (Italy), Carl Benz School of Engineering (Germany), and IE University (Spain).

According to Guidance Counsellor Jennifer Cheong, "The sessions allow students to explore and research what they want and don't want in a post-secondary experience, but also expose students to new programs or majors they had not even thought about."
