SLS Team Takes Top Title

(Rotary Golf Tournament)

For two years in a row now, Shawnigan Lake School has graciously sponsored the BBQ Lunch that kicks off an afternoon of fellowship and fund raising hosted by my Rotary Club – and for two years in a row the Shawnigan foursome has won the tournament in a Texas Scramble format. This year’s winning foursome are all members of the school’s staff including Lisa Blumer, from the front office, who joined Corey Sykes, Derek Reid and Justin Theriau, members of the maintenance staff and who were part of last year’s winning foursome.

Hosted at the Cowichan Golf and Country Club, and named in honour of the late Clyde Ogilvie, long-time member of our Club, active member of our community and a much sorely missed member of the Brentwood College Senior Management Team.

Through such community support, our Rotary Club is able to meet numerous crucial community and global initiatives. Local projects include the CMS Food Bank, Cowichan Valley Hospice Society, ten (10) scholarship and bursary presentations to South Cowichan and Duncan high schools including Shawnigan Lake School, local highway clean-up days, and local trail and bridge building, to name a few. On the wider stage, the Rotary Club supports important global causes such as international polio eradication and eye care missions.

I am a proud member of my local Rotary Club, knowing that I can count upon the willing support and golf prowess from colleagues at Shawnigan Lake School.
