Old Mill Ivy Pull

Local habitat restoration
A mixed group of grade 9 and grade 12 Shawnigan students had the opportunity to serve in our local community on Saturday morning. Led by Mr. Ronald-Jones, this group travelled to nearby Old Mill Park, a Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) community park, to help with some habitat restoration. Together with other volunteers, they took part in an “ivy pull,” removing 385 kg of English Ivy from the park. Removal of this invasive species will improve the habitat for the wildlife that depend on native vegetation. Well done to all!
