Shawnigan Staff Children's Christmas Party

Santa Makes an Early Stop!
Charlie Purdey Arena was the unlikely landing spot for Santa Claus on Tuesday afternoon, when the jolly old soul made a surprise appearance at the Shawnigan Staff Kids Christmas Skate Party.

How Santa knew he would find 50+ children, ranging from infants to 12-year-olds, is still a mystery. We’re just lucky the big bearded man made time from tuning up his sleigh to pose for photos and hand out early gifts from his North Pole workshop.

With 19 days left until Christmas, the twinkly Christmas tree, Santa tent and bench, ice skating, and Christmas music combined to put Shawnigan staff and their kids into the holiday mood.

The Boys Bantams and Female Prep hockey teams volunteered, helping out the kids on the ice, and assisting with face painting, crafts, cookie decorating, games, and dinner. Children particularly liked the ice time, especially when Santa visited rink-side.

Thank you to Santa, the elves, arena and kitchen staff, Shawnigan interns, and maintenance and grounds crews for all their support in making this an enjoyable event for our staff children.
