Personal Purpose Workshop

In advance of Monday’s “Discover and Lead with your Personal Purpose” workshop for the entire School community, Headmaster Lamont sent out the following invitation to staff, and students.
Dear Shawnigan students and staff,

We would like to invite students of all grades and Administrative, Educational and Operational staff to participate in an interactive workshop, Pathway to Purpose, which we hope will empower you to take steps toward realizing your amazing potential:

Personal and Professional Development Workshop
Discover and Lead with your Personal Purpose
1:45pm to 3:45pm on Monday 20th January 2020
New Gym

This session will be facilitated by Jeff Stier, Leader of Ernst and Young’s Purpose Realized Performance Practice in North America. He will be flying in from New York at the invitation of our new Chair of the Board of Governors, Fiona Macfarlane, to run this workshop to support personal development for the Shawnigan community.

The primary goal is to help students and staff to discover their “unique remarkable” or distinctive talents and learn how to effectively leverage them in various settings. Personal vision, purpose and guiding principles are the three main components that allow us to develop our “unique remarkable.” Together, they define us and how we present ourselves to the world. Every person, no matter rank or age, significantly benefits from discovering their personal purpose and vision and learning how to live them.

Our Senior Leadership Team, Craig Brown (Director of Guidance Department) and Cari Bell (Director of Professional Development) are delighted that Jeff Stier has agreed to come and support every member of the Shawnigan community in building a better world for themselves by using what they learn in this workshop to ground and focus themselves in their personal purpose today, while planning for their future using their personal vision as a guiding light.

Whether embarking on your Shawnigan journey, preparing for an application to university or developing professionally, we believe that this workshop will provide you with invaluable guidance.

Please do bring a pen to the workshop. Further details will be provided by Mr Brown (Guidance Department) and House Directors for all students, Mrs Milne (Assistant Head - Academics) for education staff, and team leaders for administrative and operational staff.
