Prep Ski Trip

Outdoor adventure in Whistler
Shawnigan Lake Prep School packed up students, staff, and gear, and amid the biggest snowstorm of the year, travelled to Whistler to explore the iconic Canadian mountains and world-renowned ski destination. Joined by snowboarding instructor Ms. Christina Mir Baucells and international Gap students Dominic and Fionnuala, Prep academic and boarding staff instructed students in skiing, snowboarding, and mountain etiquette. The annual Whistler trip provides key bonding opportunities for Prep students. Next year, when transitioning into other Shawnigan houses, Prep students will always remember their time together skiing, tubing, scavenger hunting around Whistler village, and much more.

When reflecting on his snowboarding experiences, David M. said, “I didn’t know I would love it so much.” David, like many other Prep students, now feels more confident, and is looking forward to the upcoming whole-school ski trip to Manning Park. The Shawnigan Lake Prep School program aims to promote individualized academic language acquisition through Canadian cultural experiences in a warm, supportive, diverse environment. The Whistler trip provides the perfect opportunity to fulfill our mission in one of British Columbia’s most beautiful locations.
