Welcome home

A safe return to campus
As students enjoy their summer break, Shawnigan’s Project Restart team has been working consistently and closely with the BC Ministries of Education and Health and other independent and public schools in the local community to create a safe, comprehensive plan for a return to campus.

"The safety and wellness of both our campus and local community are paramount to our plans. Our team has been working on developing rigorous, safe and comprehensive frameworks in place. We are thankful for the support of Dr. Perry Kendall, former BC Provincial Health Officer, for his expertise and guidance in helping us set the highest of standards for a safe return to on-campus learning," says Headmaster Larry Lamont.

Shawnigan plans to welcome back a reduced cohort of students with strict protocols surrounding airport pickups and mandatory quarantining guiding the initial arrival plan. The School’s campus will be closed to visitors during this quarantine period. Shawnigan students will also remain on campus for at least the first month of the school year--an extension to the mandatory quarantine period that will restrict unnecessary travel to and from campus and visits to the local village until early October at the earliest. In the meantime, the School will set up safe delivery protocols so that students can take advantage of and support local businesses in the village.

As an employer of over 250 Shawnigan Lake community members, including educational, administrative and operational staff, the School is committed to community support, local employment, and safe working conditions, factors which have been integral to the Project Restart Team’s return to campus plan.
