About

Welcome Home

Our souls have been awakened with the arrival of your children to our campus. Months of planning and preparation from our hard-working staff teams have come to fruition as the sounds of students giggling and laughing (through masks, of course) fill our hallways once again. Excitement is abundant as students and staff are reconnected for the first time since March. We are all finding joy in the little things that make us the Shawnigan community.
Yesterday lunchtime, I headed over to Levien House to meet some of the Grade 8 Stanton, Prep and Levien students and to play some ice-breaking games. I am delighted to report that spirits are high, an inclusive environment established with friendships being forged.

I can't tell you what a tremendous privilege it is that you all, as parents, have entrusted your children into our care. Many of you, this week, will have driven past the sculpture of the stag that stands proudly and resolutely at the entrance to our School. The plaque at the base of the sculpture reminds readers that the Shawnigan stag…

‘…will watch over all who enter these grounds’.

A reassuring message to all of us – and never has this message been more critical, more relevant.
Although this year will undoubtedly look and feel a bit different, you will be able to look forward to receiving the same level of Shawnigan ‘Conversation, Compassion, Community and Courage’ that you have grown to expect from our boarding houses and campus.

If you ask any of our returning students – their House is the best house – and so it should be.
We have exciting times ahead: a team building weekend for the House cohorts; new friendships and new experiences; a new weekly schedule with an emphasis on developing student initiative and a growing sense of autonomy; and so much more.

Best wishes
