Inter-House Tug o’ War

Shawnigan’s Canada Field was ablaze with colour on Saturday afternoon as the student body took part in the first inter-House event of the year: Tug o’ War! For new students, this is an important day for forming new friendships and instilling House loyalties. Tug o’ War is the first in a series of events that make up the fiercely contested inter-House competition that runs throughout the academic year.
A little late-competition drama in the form of a broken rope and a light west coast drizzle of rain did not dampen spirits. Indeed, all Houses did an incredible job of cheering throughout – as always, the School and House spirit were the real stars of the show!

For the first time in inter-House history, the girls’ competition ended in a three-way tie between Groves’, Renfrew and Strathcona Houses. On the boys’ side, Duxbury House pulled through with a dominant win. All good inspiration for the next inter-House event!

Many thanks to all the staff who supported the competition (and stepped in to mend the rope), Mr. Murdy for running the event, and all participants for bringing great energy and making this such a fun event!

Shawnigan Lake School is adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines released by the BC Ministries of Health and Education.
