Inspiring Academic Excellence

On Tuesday, April 5th, 13 of our top senior math students at the School wrote the Euclid Math Contest, an annual test held by the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing for senior-level high school students.
Back in February, the Grade 8s and 9s (Pascal), Grade 10s (Cayley), and Grade 11s (Fermat) wrote the Waterloo Math Contests for their grade levels. The results from these tests are becoming increasingly important for university applications and once again, we had outstanding results. This year we came close to meeting our School record of 111 participants made back in 2020, with 109 students writing these tests.

An incredible 21 students finished with "Distinction." Here are the results in order of ranking:

Pascal: Rosie P., Caitlyn C., Christian H., Mac B., Brady Z., Lucas L., Jarvis L., Sebastian J., and Liam L.
Cayley: Christina Z., Jenson W., Chika K., Kento M., Grace Z., and Zitian X.
Fermat: Mark X., Roger X., Ben P., Ed A., Tye E., and Allan L.

Congratulations to Rosie P., Christina Z., and Mark X. for earning top scores in the School and winning a medal for each category (pictured above receiving their medals in Chapel, with Mr. Lupton accepting Mark’s medal on his behalf).

This year in the team competition we finished first in our district in all three contests, beating Brentwood College School, Frances Kelsey Secondary, St John's Academy, St. Margaret's School, Dover High School, Cowichan Secondary, and many others.

Congratulations to all who participated and thanks to our wonderful math teachers who prepared the students by assisting them in reaching their full potential. Amazing teamwork and learning is happening in the Math Building!
