The Lion King Jr.

The African savannah came to life on the Hugh Wilkinson Theatre stage as the Grade 8 class ended their year of Fine Art ventures with a spectacular production of The Lion King Jr.
This condensed version of the classic Disney story included some of the movie’s most memorable lines and musical numbers. With a rotating cast throughout the play and all 45 Grade 8s taking part, the musical theatre production showcased quite a few future stars of the Shawnigan stage.

The Grade 8 play has become a special Shawnigan tradition and rite of passage for the youngest members of our community. It serves to build teamwork, challenge students to step out of their comfort zone, and inject fun and energy into the end of term.

The cast performed two shows, giving Shawnigan students, parents, staff, and staff children an opportunity to enjoy the beloved story. It was particularly meaningful for the five-year grads in the audience, who had participated in their own Grade 8 play (Shrek) in 2018.
