Ski Week 2017

Shawnigan's annual pilgrimage to Manning Park

There was so much fresh snow, everyone almost stayed for an extra day.

Shawnigan's annual Ski Week saw 380 students head to Manning Park for five days of mountain adventure.

On top of the daily skiing and snowboarding, students had the chance to go cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tubing, as well as competing in Inter-house broomball, trivia, snow-sculpting and karaoke. Wednesday evening brought the annual winter carnival, while Mr. Kelsey McDaniel took more intrepid youngsters into the wild for some of the coldest snow camping in School history.

For 43 years, Shawnigan has partnered with Manning Park Resort to create this life-changing experience. After awarding medals to alpine champions on the final night of the trip, Mr. Nigel Mayes invited the whole School into the parking lot for a short fireworks display, and expressed his hope that the tradition continues for another 43 years.
