Community gathers to celebrate season opening
Spirits were high as members of the Shawnigan ice hockey community, past and present, gathered together in the upper lounge of the Charlie Purdey Arena on Saturday night for a jovial reception to mark the opening of the hockey season.

Three Shawnigan teams combined for five games this weekend, as the School launched a new season on home ice.

Midget Prep:
The School's Midget Prep team opened the season on home ice on Friday with a 7-5 loss against Delta and a 5-2 loss against Burnaby on Saturday. They will be venturing to Calgary in search of success in games against Edge, Banff and IHA from October 21-25.

Bantam Prep:
The School’s Bantam Prep team lost against Okanagan 6-2 on Saturday and 8-2 on Sunday and are now looking forward to hosting the Chilliwack Tournament from October 6th until 9th.

Female Prep:
Female Prep lost 3-1 against the Seals who had an empty-netter. Next up, the team will be travelling to Calgary for the Edge Showcase.

The Midget Varsity team will play Delta at home this Friday at 7:00pm and again on Saturday at 5:00pm.
