Grade 8s face tough competition
The SLS Grade 8 girls played valiantly in the SLS-sponsored ISA tournament. On Friday, the girls faced the Brentwood A team and Collingwood. Both games led to loses, but the young athletes held Brentwood to a 2-0 victory, and Collingwood only scored 3 goals in the whole game. We were proud that the score in the Collingwood game was a 0-0 tie at half time; a testament to the hard work and diligent play the grade 8's exhibited in all their games. Saturday morning, the girls played their sister team, the SLS B's, in a tight contest. The 8's scored the only goal of the game; thus, they moved on to the final round for 5th place against St. Michael's University School at 12pm. Again, the girls played with determination, and impressed the coaches of the other teams. Despite the loss (0-4 for SMU), the girls have every reason to be proud of their play and their display of sportsmanship. They competed in Junior tournament in 6th out of 8 places, and gained very valuable experience. The team and coaches would like to thank the Koepps, Mrs. John and Mrs. Conroy for making the opportunity available.
